PRODUCTION:
The High Chaparel was Dortort’s brainchild and his dream. Therefore, he kept doing work on bonanza calmly to think the plot and make it concrete as much as he can. In 1967 he started making the all time great series High Chaparral, which was indeed the greatest hit. After the end of this series in 1971, Dortort’s never came back to Bonanza, but instead got retired from the industry.
There was also a DVD launching, but no one still knows about it. However, the first season premiered in Germany with English subtitles. The quality of the DVD was superb and there was no error except a few minutes of German subtitles instead of English.
The series was no doubt a great hit and the efforts of Dortort’s can be seen in the series.
