There is this American comedy series which aired on NBC from the year 1979 up to the year 1981. This series was created by Glen A. Larson and Christopher Crowe. The stars of the series are Claude Akins and Greg Evigan and it is entitled B.J. and the Bear.
Billie Joe McKay is the character portrayed by Greg Evigan who is a professional freelance itinerant trucker who continues to travel highways via a white and red Kenworth K-100 cab together with his pet chimpanzee and Bear Bryant which is the famous football coach for Alabama.
The main character was regularly harassed by Sheriff Elroy P. Lobo who was portrayed by Claude Akins. There also is the appearance of B.J and the Bear where he continued to portray the character of the Sherriff. I the year 1981, the show now returned from hiatus and B.J was able to settle down so they can continue running the trucking company which is located at L.A. called Bear Enterprises.
There is this antagonist whose name is Rutherford T. Grant. He is a corrupt politician who is the head of the state Special Crimes Action Team. He has this silent partnership in a trucking firm that is said to be largest in California. He’s character is to get rid of other possible competitors of the trucking firm itself.
Due to the bedevilment of Grant, B.J. wasn’t able to hire truckers who are experienced in this field and he was then forced to hire beautiful women truckers instead. This actually include Grant’s daughter Cindy which is portrayed by Sherilyn Wolter.
This young handsome trucker B.J. McCay traveled within the country where he was then faced by various corrupt sheriffs such as Sgt. Wiley of Winslow County, Elroy P. Lobo, Sheriffs Cain and Masters. He was only able to encounter an honest cop named Fox who actually looks for crooked cops himself.
This particular show aired for a long time and became very popular to viewers. The story of this particular trucker came alive and people enjoyed understanding the show’s relevance in life. There also is a famous tag line that pertains to the trouble that a chimp and a trucker can encounter.
